The following is a concept of pre-trial examination of witnesses under the law of British Columbia: This process is used if there is a witness to the proceeding who is not a party to the action. The examination takes place in the presence of a court reporter and a transcript is provided. The witness must give an oath or solemn affirmation that he or she will tell the truth during the examination.
