Legislatures in Canada

The earliest in British North America was that of Nova Scotia, whose first meeting was held, 1758, in a grammar school house in Halifax. That of Prince Edward Island dates from 1773; of New Brunswick from 1786; of Lower Canada, 1792, held in the chapel of the bishop’s palace at Quebec; of Upper Canada, 1792; of Vancouver Island, 1856; of British Columbia, 1867; of the Dominion, 1867.
